“Close your eyes, put the hands on your shoulder and then throw all the negativity from your life”. This is what Ayman Sadiq, founder of 10 Minute School, made the students do on the very first workshop during the business case competition arranged by BUTEX Business Club. The event was held on 16th March, 2017.
Most of the engineers have the capability to manage machines but what about people? And if they want to be successful entrepreneurs in future, how will they start? Focusing on this, BUTEXBC arranged a case competition that included two phase- intra and inter phase. Intra phase started through the workshop with Ayman Sadiq. Total 131 teams (524 participants) registered for this competition.
14 teams were selected for 2nd round. They attended a workshop by veteran Tanzir Islam & Akib Moin Arka, former students of IBA, University of Dhaka, to develop their ideas about solving cases. 7 teams were selected for the final round and briefed by Tanzir Islam.
Then came the most awaited final round. Dr. Abbs Uddin Shiyak, Principal Engineering Consultant of Reed Consulting Bangladesh LTD; Nabi Khan, Chief Business Officer of Color City LTD and Saiful Islam Khan, Managing Director of Essential Clothing Limited were the respected judges of the final round on 4th April, 2017.
The champions of the competition were Sakib Hafiz, Chowdhury Md Shaiyan, Moumita Haque and Toukir Ahmed Hridoy of Team Arbitrators, the first runner-up were MD. Jahirul Haque, Syeda Shirajum Munira, MD. Mizanur Rahman and Israt Jahan Eusha of Team Pioneers and the second runner-up were Onia Parvin Sorna, MD. Tanvir Kabir Anik, MD. Jahidul Islam Jahid and M. Waliul Islam of Team Quartet. The teams came with different ideas and the judges appreciated them for solving the case in a very short time. The program closed with remarks from the BUTEX Vice-Chancellor Prof Engr. Mashud Ahmed.
Through all of the workshops, grooming sessions, the students learnt the basics of case solving. Thanks will be little that can be given to the moderator, Arif Iqbal, lecturer of BUTEX and all the five organizers –Md. Ashraf, Rahat Alam, Hasib Ud Din Ahmaad, Md. Imran Hossain and Rubaiat Rahim Rubel, who worked really hard for the last one year to create a platform for the BUTEXians to make them prepared for being successful as entrepreneurs in reality.
