After the immense success of last year’s event (Archroma TEXBIZ 2017) BUTEX Business Club set the stage this time even better and bigger for the students from different universities all over the country by launching “DYSIN TEXBIZ 2018″ collaborating with their title sponsor, Dysin-Chem Ltd. in creating a case solving competition to broaden the horizon for the young aspiring minds. BUTEX Business Club believes that a student should be trained as a competent entity having skills beyond their educational knowledge to excel in their future career and entrepreneurial ventures. With this end in view, they arranged this textile based business case competition, “TEXBIZ” which is the first of its kind that ever occurred in our country.
About 106 teams from 23 universities and textile institutes participated this year. After the online case round, 23 teams were selected for the powerpoint presentation round along with 5 other teams (Team Pioneers, Valyrian Steelers, De Jokers, Biztex & Game changers) from BUTEX who were preselected during the intra phase of Dysin TEXBIZ 2018.
The presentation round was held in 15th of April followed by a short workshop session conducted by Md. Didar Jahid (Manager, Corporate sales, Dan Foods Ltd.). After the session had ended, the 23 selected teams were given an on-spot business case to be solved and presented in the presentation round. The honorable judges of this round were Rezwan Ahmed (Assistant, Audit and Advisory services, KPMG Bangladesh), Rahman Huq (Chartered Accountant, MGH Group), Sadek Newaz (Finance Associate, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd.), Md. Mahirul Quddus (Research Associate, BRAC EPL Stock Brokerage Ltd.), Md. Wahidul Islam (Finance Business Partner, bkash), Abrar Ahmed Abir (Business Analyst, LightCastle Partners), Md. Mobasshir Aakif Chowdhury (Senior Executive, Marketing, ZICOM Equipment Pte. Ltd.), Rashid Abrar Sajid (Trade Marketing Executive, Marico Bangladesh Ltd.), Mohammed Raafiul Hasan (Senior Executive, MGH Group), Saika Alam (Senior Executive, MGH Group). The teams were asked to pitch the most feasible solution, showcasing their financial, business and teamwork skills within a given time frame of 10 minutes in the presentation round. After the most judicious judgement of the honorable judges 7 teams were selected for the final round. The teams were TEAM LAJUK, TEAM DYNAMO, TYCOONS, THE BRIDGE, NO BRAINER, and VALYRIAN STEELERS & TEAM NEVER SETTLE.
The 16th of April marked the most treasured event of the year by BUTEXBC. The Grand Finale of Dysin TEXBIZ 2018. Who is going to be the TEXBIZER 2018? Who is going to take home with them 75,000 taka prize money and other exciting prizes? The finalist teams were provided with a textile based business problem designed on the basis of the context of our country. The teams using their prospective talents and available information from different online sources modelled the best possible solutions to their business problem in the final round. The seven finalist teams gave in all their efforts to bear the title, “Champions of TEXBIZ 2018”.
Dr. Mohammed Abbas Uddin Shiyak (Asst. professor, Dept. of dyes and chemical engineering, Bangladesh University of Textiles), Md. Amanur Rahman (Managing Director, DYSIN INTERNATIONAL LTD), Nabi Khan (Chief Business Officer, Colour City Ltd, DBL Group) and Saiful Islam Khan (Managing Director, Essential Clothing Ltd) were the honorable judges of the final round.
Team Lajuk from IBA-DU became the TEXBIZER 2018. Tycoons from BUET became the first runner up and the Team Valyrian Steelers from BUTEX secured the third position.
The participation of the seven teams in the final round and the judgement by the four honorable judges was followed by the closing ceremony, where Prof. Engr. Mashud Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Textiles, was invited as the chief guest. He handed over the winning cheque and crests to the champion team. The champion team got 75000 taka as the wining prize. The cheques of 50000 taka and 35000 taka were handed over to the 1st runner up and 2nd runner up respectively. BUTEX Business Club was highly appreciated for taking this great initiative in blooming the latent talents of the participants. Finally the Dysin TEXBIZ 2018 was waved goodbye and wished for more grand events in the next years to come. The closing ceremony was ended with a gala dinner at the premise of BUTEX auditorium.
